The F-82 was the last propeller driven fighter acquired in quantity by the UASF and was developed by marrying two P-51s together. Designed originally as an escort fighter for the B-29, it arrived too late for WWII, it was converted to a night fighter role. An F-82 of the 68th Fighter Squadron is credited with the first enemy a/c "kill" of the Korean conflict.  Approximately 250 were delivered
