Germany's equivalent to the DC-3, the Ju52 tri-motor boasted a rugged corrugated skin covering structure actually started life as a single engine a/c. After a short productions run Junkers decided to test a three-engine model which was so successful that the single engine version was abandoned. Deutsche Lufthansa was the primary customer with the Luftwaffe also receiving a number of copies as bombers. An estimated 4845 a/c were built between 1932 and 1944.
